Bridal Hair Trail FAQs
-
I recommend waiting until you have chosen your wedding venue and dress before doing your trial. These will help to determine the feel of your wedding day and we can best compliment the neckline and style of your dress with the look you choose.
If you already have a sense of how you’d like to wear your hair or have your makeup done for your wedding date and want to come in for your trial before booking, please feel free to do so.
Keep in mind, your date is not secured until the deposit and contract are received so please be sure to get an appointment as soon as possible to avoid risking losing the date beforehand.
-
The standard bridal trial appointment lasts one hour and is included in the price of your bridal package for each hair and makeup. For your hair trial, you can use the time however you wish.
The one-hour appointment is the ideal amount of time to finish one style as you would on your wedding day, touching base every step of the way on each element and detail, and making adjustments as necessary to achieve a perfect look.
-
It's a good idea to wear a white or a dressier top so you can best evaluate your style.
-
Accessories for your hair are so much fun, but sometimes you'll need some guidance.
The best time to assess what will look good in your hair is when you are planning your wedding style. This helps bring the vision to life when you see the overall style put together. I have a variety of beautiful hair pieces for you to purchase and try on at your trial appointment.
I also love using fresh flowers like baby's breath or spray roses to compliment your style or greenery like fern or eucalyptus. These are affordable and always look stunning.
-
It is common for brides to choose two styles that are done faster without the finishing touches, such as having their hair up or half up.
Please let your stylist know ahead of time if you would like to try more styles or to see multiple styles before the wedding. Pricing will be adjusted accordingly.
-
Yes, this is a great opportunity to see the whole look! There is an additional fee for your makeup trial. Please let us know if you would like both services when scheduling your bridal hair trial.
-
Everyone having hair services can choose the look they’d like to wear. If you would prefer to have everyone in a certain style or avoid a particular look, please let me know in advance. To prepare best for the morning of the wedding, I request the names of everyone having their hair done. I also request descriptions of their hair, and how they’d like to style their hair. Below are examples of what I mean when I request this.
The two examples and the style chart below are good representations of this information:
Ashley, a bridesmaid, with long thick hair past her shoulders, wants half up - half down with curls.
Christine, the mother of the bride, with chin-length, thin, fine hair, wants a blowout.

Definitely! When it comes to coloring before your wedding, I don't recommend doing anything drastic, but adding a few natural highlights will help you accentuate the gorgeous details in your style. If you color regularly, you should touch up your color before the wedding, but no later than two weeks before the big day.
I recommend contacting me at least two months before your wedding to schedule an appointment to color your hair. Please complete my new client form (you can find this on our Say Hello page) if you are still unsure but interested, and we can set up a meeting to discuss possible options I'd recommend and what sort of upkeep (if any) those looks might involve.
Extensions FAQs
-
Yes! I offer temporary clip-in extensions for purchase or rental.
-
Many brides do not intend to use hair extensions beyond their wedding day as they are intimidated by the thought of styling and installing the hair. This is why I offer a rental option that is a much more affordable way to still achieve a long and voluminous look on your big day without having to commit to a significant investment.
I have a range of colors to match most hair colors, including platinum blonde, dimensional blonde, light brown with blonde highlight, medium brown, and dark brown. The rental extensions vary between 18-20 inches in length.
-
If renting the extensions limits you from the color or length of extensions that you would like and the idea of having your own set sounds fun; I can help you to purchase the perfect set for your hair color and thickness.
Your extension purchase will include an appointment to teach you how to install them yourself and style them. If cutting is required, that would be an additional charge.
Extensions start at $300.
-
Leave this part to me! Whether purchasing or renting, I can do a custom color match based on an in-person consultation or through evaluating pictures of your hair. Have a friend help you take photos of your hair from the front, back, and sides in outdoor, indirect sunlight to send to me.
-
18 inches is the most common length. This will give you long hair that looks natural. Depending on your natural length, this will work for anyone with hair a couple of inches past their shoulders and longer.
If your hair is very short and/or very thick, we may need to adjust the length of the extensions.
-
Within one week after your wedding, the extensions must be returned to the salon at 224 Whiting Lane in West Hartford, CT 06119, or mailed back (to the same address).
Extensions must be returned in the condition they were received.
The best way to store the extensions is to put them in a braid, so they don’t tangle and then into a Ziplock bag to return.
Wedding Day FAQs
-
Hair must be freshly washed that day or the day before and blown dry smoothly. Hair should have little to no product, as I will be adding whatever is needed.
Hair must be fully dry for styling to stay on schedule unless it’s being styled as a blowout only.
Anyone arriving with wet or damp hair without having only a blowout as their finished style will be charged an additional $25.
Please no flat ironing if a curled style or updo is desired as it does not hold well after being straightened.
It is recommended that those who have their hair done bring inspiration images related to how they want their hair styled unless it is left up to the stylist or bride's discretion.
-
Tops should be easy to change without disrupting hairstyles. Robes, button-downs, and zip-ups are all great options for the morning of the wedding.

Make sure to do a tour of the room prior to your wedding day to ensure there is plenty of space. There will be a lot of people in there especially once the photographer arrives. Hair and makeup artists will both need a table or surface to put their tools on, plenty of outlets for hot tools, and good lighting (Natural light is preferred).
-
You will want a clean, moisturized face for the day of the wedding. Be sure to have any facial treatments or waxing done in advance.
